Ohio Historical Society Volunteer Recognized

The Ohio Historical Society congratulates James H. Edge, one of fifteen honorable mentions for Medical Mutual of Ohio’s Outstanding Senior Volunteer Award. They recognize seniors, 65 years and older, who are actively engaged in volunteer activities. The awards “salute those volunteers who act in a selfless, caring manner, and are committed to enhancing the quality of lives of those around them.”

Jim started as a volunteer in May 2003 in the Museum and Library Services Division. He has given over 1,100 hours of service to the Ohio Historical Society. Each year he volunteers over 130 hours. Working with Manuscripts Curator John Haas, Jim has processed collections of land records, Civil War muster rolls, and manuscripts. These are now available for library visitors to research and use.

Prior to joining the Ohio Historical Society, Jim was a research chemist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. An avid genealogist, Jim is the author of six books, each of which details a family line.
