I Found It In the Archives! The 2012 Edition
The Ohio Historical Society is sponsoring an I Found It In the Archives! contest for 2012. We had such an enjoyable experience last year hearing from people who submitted essays about their archives research at OHS sites. We are once again excited to invite people who have used the Ohio Historical Society’s archives across the state of Ohio to submit an essay or video for review.
The Society of American Archivists conceived of the first I Found It In the Archives! contest in 2011 as a way to celebrate both the people who use archives and the history preserved in archives. In 2011, the Ohio Historical Society was one of five states to compete in the national contest. Although we did not win the national competition, we received a great deal of positive feedback for the stories told by the ten people who participated in our statewide competition.
We want to hear more stories about what you discover when you use the archives collections cared for at OHS sites. The contest entry form, release, and waiver can be found here and must accompany all submissions.
Submissions sent by mail should be postmarked on or before January 31, 2012. Selected submissions will be posted to the Ohio Historical Society Collections blog for an online vote.
