This past month the State Archives Local Government Records Program began its series of local government records management training webinars. On April 26th Electronic Records Archivist Jillian Carney conducted the workshop which covered the procedures for creating records retention schedules and filing certificates of disposal with the State Archives. Participants had the option of either attending from their own office or with a group of their peers at the Akron – Summit County Public Library. Additional webinars are also scheduled:

May 7th: Wood County Public Library (1:00 pm – 2:30 pm)
May 10th: Delaware County Public Library (2:00 pm – 3:30 pm)
May 14th: Garnet A. Wilson Public Library of Pike County (1:00 pm – 2:30 pm)

Also in April the State Archives participated in the Auditor of State’s annual Ohio Local Government Officials Conference held in Columbus. Electronic Records Archivist Jillian Carney conducted a government records management workshop for approximately 80 officials from townships, municipalities, and counties.
