Hello
I live in England and i am doing some family research into the life of Joseph Walter Burke who emigrated fron County Mayo Ireland, studied law at Ohio University and was a Major in the 10th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil war.
His brother Bernard Hamilton Burke was a British Army officer who had a distinguished Army career and saw service during the Crimean war and later Newzealand war 1864-1866. Like his brother he rose to a high rank and i have quite a lot of research on him should it be of any interest for your records. I would be grateful for any info on Joseph and wonder what medals he may have received, and if any photos have survived of him.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes
Sid
