Philanthropy Friday: Ohio Historical Society 1950s Exhibit

The Columbus Foundation selected OHS for its Philanthropy Friday feature. There is an interview with history curator Cameron Wood about our upcoming 1950’s Exhibit which will feature a Lustron Home.

A woman relaxes at an umbrella table in the yard behind a Lustron house.

The exhibit will be interactive and allow visitors to touch and use typical items found in 1950s homes. To furnish the Lustron house we are currently collecting housewares, toys, furniture, and other items from the late 1940s and early 1950s. If you have any items that you are interested in donating to the Ohio Historical Society, call us at 614-297-2544 or e-mail collections@ohiohistory.org. Please leave your name, contact information, and a description of your items.

Could you use photos from the 50s? I’ve had them converted to digital from 35 mm slides. I can print them from the digital — into pretty good prints. Family shots.
