Article about Knight’s Panorama
Columbus Dispatch reporter Alan Johnson has an article in today’s paper about Knight’s Panorama. It is a series of 17 painted panels that illustrate one of the most daring secret missions of the Civil War. A group of Union soldiers, mostly Ohioans, crossed Confederate lines, stole a locomotive and traveled more than 100 miles north before abandoning the locomotive. The painted scenes illustrate what is often called “The Great Locomotive Chase,” as well as the capture, imprisonment, and fate of the soldiers who participated.
