10:23 PM
Join us as we celebrate the opportunity to see the alignment of the moon through the walls of the Newark Earthworks. This lunar alignment occurs every 18.6 years and is believed to be one of the main reasons the earthworks were built.
The evening will begin at 8:00 PM as we gather at the picnic shelter at the Great Circle (located off State Route 79, just east of 21st Street) and proceed to the center of the Great Circle Earthwork and the Eagle Mound within.
From the Great Circle, guests will then travel to Octagon Earthworks (North 33rd Street and Parkview Road at Moundbuilders Country Club) to view the moonrise at 10:23 PM.
For more information about the evening’s activities, contact the Newark Earthworks at 1-800-600-7178, or locally at 344-1919.
